Do you find yourself falling into comparison to others and frustrated watching people around you succeed? In this episode, Morgan breaks down 3 easy steps to help get your focus back on your success and a quick phrase to remember when you catch yourself being comparative.
As a business owner, comparison is one of the easiest ways to fall into a trap of thinking you are not good enough and thinking you are not on the path you are supposed to be on.
Reality check: When you compare yourself to someone else’s life, so often you are comparing yourself to someone else’s perceived success. You don’t know what their life is actually like. You don’t know the inner and outer workings of their happiness, their day-to-day life, and you don’t know where that person is headed. But what you will do is compare yourself to it, and that just doesn’t make sense.
Comparison stops your creativity and your drive to be motivated. Friend, don’t compare your chapter 1 to someone else’s chapter 20.
So, how do we get out of this trap? Snag a journal or a sticky note and write down the following things each day!
It’s really hard to be comparative when you have a grateful heart. Write down at least three things you are grateful for.
I always write down a win from my precious day because it gets me in the right headspace for everything I have ahead of me. Again, it’s hard to be comparative when you are grateful for your personal wns. Also, it’s important to note that these wins do not have to be massive things! They are simply ways to acknowledge you are in the right lane–yours–and that you are on the right path–yours!
Write down your one focus point for the day to help move the needle toward something you are working for.
It’s hard to look up and be comparative when all you are doing is looking down and honing in on yourself.
I hope this helps you take the steps of being so hyper-focused on yourself and so proud of where you’re at that you don’t even have time to be comparative to what’s happening around you.
